Acoustic shields

One of the most widely used corrective measure for environmental impact is the installation of sound-absorbing acoustic shields whose purpose is to mitigate the acoustic impact caused by road or rail links such as dual carriageways, motorways and railways. They are barriers which are placed between the source of noise, the infrastructures mentioned above, and the points where this noise is received -towns or other population centres- that have been highlighted in an acoustic study.

The material to use is selected and the necessary size of the acoustic shields is determined according to a number of variables, such as whether it is a rural or urban area, the height of the homes to be protected from the noise, the distance between these hones and the sources or the visual impact on the landscape. The acoustic barriers can be of wood, concrete, metal or methacrylate.
